Our Spiritual Foundation

We believe that grounding the storytelling process in a philosophical or spiritual framework provides immense comfort and meaning. It helps us understand the end of life not as an end to being, but as a transition in the soul’s long journey.

Our Default Path: The Wisdom of Jainism

Inspired by the teachings revered at the Shrimad Rajchandra Ashram, Dharampur, our work is deeply influenced by the core tenets of Jainism, which emphasize compassion, non-violence (Ahiṃsaˉ), and the soul’s purity. We gently incorporate these concepts:

  • Kṣamaˉpaṇaˉ (Forgiveness): We create opportunities within the narrative for seeking and granting forgiveness, which is a powerful act of release for both the departing and those who remain.
  • Aparigraha (Non-Possessiveness): The storytelling process helps in celebrating a life’s experiences over its material possessions, aiding in the gentle release of attachments.
  • MicchaˉmiDukkaḍaṃ: This sacred phrase is the cornerstone of our process. It translates to “may all the harm that I have caused be nullified.” We believe the journey of remembrance ideally begins when the departing individual offers this to their loved ones, seeking forgiveness for any hurt, intentional or not. This act of profound humility is the first step toward healing, releasing spiritual burdens and fostering an atmosphere of pure love and closure.

A Path for Every Belief

We hold the deepest respect for all spiritual paths and secular philosophies. While Jainism is our default, we are fully prepared and honored to shape the narrative through the lens of Hinduism, Buddhism, Stoicism, Secular Humanism, or any other belief system that resonates with your family.
